Compliance
The Ergonomics Regulations, 2019 in plain language
IllustrativeWhat employers must do
Duty 1
Assess ergonomic risks
Identify the tasks, workstations and work methods that can cause musculoskeletal or other ergonomic harm, and assess the risk. The assessment must be done by a competent person.
How ErgoHub helps: ErgoHub screens every employee online, then our assessors run ROSA, RULA, REBA and NIOSH where the risk is.
Duty 2
Control the risk - in the right order
Eliminate or reduce risk using the hierarchy of controls: design out the hazard first, then engineering controls, then administrative controls, with personal protective equipment as the last line.
How ErgoHub helps: Every assessment produces a ranked control plan, with the equipment linked in our store.
Duty 3
Inform and train employees
Make sure employees understand the ergonomic risks of their work and how to work safely, and keep records of the training.
How ErgoHub helps: Posture, workstation and manual-handling training, on site or online, with attendance records in your compliance file.
Duty 4
Health surveillance where needed
Where the risk assessment shows it is necessary, arrange medical or health surveillance for exposed employees through an occupational health practitioner.
How ErgoHub helps: We work alongside your occupational health provider and can supply physiotherapy assessment and treatment.
Duty 5
Keep records
Keep the risk assessment, control measures, training and surveillance records, and make them available to inspectors and health and safety representatives.
How ErgoHub helps: The ErgoHub employer portal keeps one live compliance file per site, with status lights for every item.
Duty 6
Review and keep it current
Review the assessment when work, equipment or people change, when there is an incident or complaint, and at regular intervals.
How ErgoHub helps: Automatic review reminders and re-screen campaigns from the portal.
